Introduction
Design and production are disciplines related to engineering to create valuable artifacts and provide a stable supply to society, and have evolved significantly since manufacturing became driven by science-based expertise. What is strongly needed in this field today is a method to combine new scientific knowledge with conventional indigenous technology and information circulation technology to quickly convert it into value and implement it in society. In this course, we will conduct research that fuses the results of basic engineering and systems engineering with digital technology in order to design and produce artifacts that support health, mobility, knowledge and human relations in an energy-efficient and smart manner, which will become even more important in the future in an increasingly networked society at various levels. In addition, this course provides basic education in design and production science as well as basic education for applying research results to society.
