Machining is a basic technology that supports the modern manufacturing industry.
Precision Measurement and Machining Laboratory (Matsubara Lab.) aimes at the advancement of production processing technology supporting the site of "manufacturing". We are mainly researching and developing methods to promote the automation and intelligence of various systems centered on NC machine tools, which are essential technologies for that purpose.
In particular, autonomous and intelligent machining is an important theme, such as systematization of the skills and experience of skilled technicians through the intelligence of NC machine tools, and intelligent machining of dies. We also conduct research from various perspectives on the advancement of machine tools, including approaches from control, measurement, and design to high-precision positioning technology, or development of machine tools with new mechanisms such as linear motor drive or parallel mechanisms.
